Geocoding Exercise


Geocoding is a mighty powerful tool that allows one to assign points on a map to locations in a spreadsheet or descriptions of locations from other sources. This map shows the addresses of former students of an upstate South Carolina community college.

Topology & Subtypes


Today we learned about editing topology and subtypes. Very cool stuff, and very powerful. I'm disappointed that I won't be able to use these features with an ArcView License! I'll have to upgrade to Editor someday.

Georeferencing CAD data


Today we georeferenced the CAD data for AB-Tech. We used both the Georeferencing tool bar and the Spatial Adjustment tool bar. Here is a picture of the result: the CAD data is now spatially correct.

GIS 215 Begins

We got an introduction to MicroSoft Access 2007 today and a refresher in Access in general. My major accomplishment during class was to print a few maps of steep slopes. I will have to turn in my Access assignments for homework.
